About me.

The deep desire to delve into the core of what lies underneath the surface, to capture the essence that enlivens the physical world and to communicate the things that prove that life is nothing less than a mysteriously magical experience, is what drives me to be creative.

Creativity to me is freedom, and since childhood, drawing has been a way in which I have felt able to be participate in the world whilst at the same time enjoy a sense of detachment from it.. Over the years, my love for drawing has branched out into numerous different forms of creative expression, enjoying experimenting with all sorts of different kinds of media from writing to painting to photography to fashion design, to graphic design, to moving image and to

interaction design.

Yet it is the subject of the work that is what is most compelling to me. I find that creativity is nothing without it’s content; it is the difference between a creative piece being just a pretty picture or a symbol filled with meaning. This is why much of my inspiration comes from my personal life experiences as well as my dreams and contemplations, which have been further guided by my general observations of the world and the information I gather through books, the media and the internet. I am strongly pulled to all things of scientific, mathematical, psychological, philosophical, spiritual, and metaphysical nature; anything that shows how life is a mystery ready to be unravelled.

My creative methods and unique ways of viewing life have also been influenced by the variety of cultures and characters that have coloured my international upbringing. It was at age 16 that I left my family home, then in Hong Kong, and moved to Cambridge in order to continue my education with a specialised interest in art and design. Since then, I have gained a variety of professional work experience in the creative sector working as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for clients such as Goldsmiths Wired Radio and Beautcamp (now Bootcamp) Pilates in London, as well as working as a creative assistant, graphic design intern and technical assistant at multi-media and design companies such as Pentagram and Brandhouse in London.

Though I did enjoy and learn much from all these experiences, it was upon re-uniting with the love of my life and now life-partner having just turned 23 during the final year of my design studies at Goldsmiths, University of London that I felt the need to take a two-years leave of absence in order to embark upon a journey of spiritual exploration, soul-searching and

self-reflection. The imprints that this period left upon me is reflected especially in my poetry, my artwork titled ‘Seeking Love, Truth and Wisdom’ and my design project titled ‘Mastering Time’. I returned to my studies in January 2012 and graduated that summer. Since then I have continued on the development of my own personal creative expression, amongst also participating in art projects in Paramaribo and Cambridge and interning at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

Although the expression of my creative vision is still in it’s young stage of development, my work has been displayed across the globe in Mexico, Suriname, the Netherlands, Italy and the

United Kingdom.
